BIO

Lisa Axiotis is an emerging Melbourne multidisciplinary artist. With a background in painting and a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Arts, Lisa’s experience in both worlds has filtered through to her current practice.

Drawing on classical ideals of beauty, nature and the sublime, Lisa holds fast to what she believes should be inherent in all art – integrity of skill. Hyper-real in execution and seductive in their depth, Lisa’s paintings share her vision of reality; often marked by strong focal values and intensity of colour. Her work is natural and exuberant, both feminine and strong – aspects often considered mutually exclusive, to which her practice defies.

Working in a range of media including acrylic, pastel, pencil and cut paper, Lisa’s meticulously detailed work has been exhibited nationally and is housed in private collections across Australia.

ARTIST STATEMENT – UNIVERSAL AESTHETICS

Appeal is not merely culturally bound. The world, in regard to all living and non-living matter, is an intrinsically complex and beautiful manifestation of balance, scale and proportion.

I have always been attracted to the natural world. Full of nuance and subtlety, it allows for a certain repetition and drilling of the mind to imbue the detail in my work. The work, as I see it, is bound only by personal choice and the precepts to which I hold fast; sustainable existence, appreciation of beauty, creativity in experimentation and integrity of skill.

To nature I attribute all my findings in expressions of artistic merit.
